JOB TITLE: Dance Instructor I FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
General Statement of Duties: Responsible for preparation and instruction of ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop classes.
Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Arts Enrichment Coordinator.
Supervision Exercised: None
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Examples of Duties: The following are examples of duties and are intended to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.
- Provides ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop instruction.
- Ensures the safety of participants.
- Assists in planning and coordinating classes in our three annual recitals.
- Demonstrates positive customer service skills when communicating verbally with participants, parents and coworkers.
- Performs related duties as assigned and required.
Physical and Environmental Standards: Must be able to repeatedly sit, walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, push, and pull. Must be able to type, write, use a calculator, use a computer, and answer the telephone. Must possess the ability to use the telephone/cellphone to talk and hear. The ability to communicate face-to-face is needed. Vision requirements include near and far acuity. Must be able to properly lift/move 20 pounds unassisted and 40 pounds with help. Must be able to teach at all (4) facilities.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to teach basic techniques in the areas of ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. Ability to effectively communicate with all ages of classroom participants, members and coworkers. Current CPR and First Aid or ability to acquire certifications within 30 days of employment. Must be available to work holidays.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Education: College experience preferred.
Experience: Two years of experience teaching various styles of dance to children.
