Summary:  Mentors serve as the liaison between the student, online instructors, parents/guardians, and administration.

 

Hours:  Approximately 18 hours a week, student weeks.

  • Monitor student progress and keep accurate records through mentor logs.
  • Manage computer lab located in Fowlerville High School.
  • Communicate with online instructors, school staff, students and parents using technology.
  • Establish rapport with students and encourage academic success.
  • Advocate for the students.
  • Help students interpret instructor feedback.
  • Teach and encourage students to be self-directed, independent learners.
  • Ensure materials and resources are available for students.
  • Support students' social and emotional health through district initiative and plan activities.
  • Adhere to all Board and District policies.
  • Regular, predictable and physical attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistent, predictable and physical attendance to meet the requirements of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Strong computer skills, with an understanding and knowledge of current technology.
  • Excellent communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or higher
  • Experience in online learning support

 

 Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students in the lab for a safe and orderly enviroment for learning.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems in a professional manner.
