Description

The Surgery Attendant role will assure effective cleanliness of the department and to maintain adequate inventory of supplies pertinent to the departmental operation.

  • Maintain Linen Supply- adequately stocked warming cabinet
  • Maintain appropriate departmental supplies as needed
  • Routine cleaning to include
  • Dust all horizonal surfaces with hospital approved disinfectant between surgical procedures
  • Mop Operating Room floors with hospital approved disinfectant between surgical procedures
  • Dispose of contaminated linen and trash appropriately
  • Provide clean receptacles for linen and trash disposal in all areas of department at all times
  • Keep rooms and hallways clear of surplus equipment and/or furniture
  • Maintain scrub sinks clean and stocked
  • Maintain lounges, conference rooms in orderly fashion
  • Damp dust anesthesia equipment daily with hospital approved disinfectant
  • Maintain clean and functional suction receptacles
  • Keep walls and cabinets free of soil
  • Leave operating beds and gurneys covered with clean linen after cleaning
  • Safety straps and stirrup straps are to be clean at all times
  • Damp dust auto claves with hospital approved disinfectant
  • May prepare designated surgical suite for Total Joint Arthroplasty using established procedure when requested
  • May provide furniture and equipment pertinent to scheduled surgical procedure to surgical suite.
  • Remove sterile supplies from Central Sterile shelves prior to "sterility" outdate
  • Transport patients to surgery and PACU as requested
  • Report damaged equipment to Clinical Director immediately
  • Wear designated surgical attire
  • Assume additional duties as may be assigned.

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Lifting Requirements

Must be able to lift 40 lbs. frequently and/or carry objects weighing the same. Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods.
