The Narrow Web Supervisor will assist in the control and regulation of packaging operations by maintaining standard operating procedures, making prescribed changes and adjustments when necessary, and maintaining daily production rates, yield, quality, and line efficiencies according to customer requirements. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating and providing direction across shifts to ensure that the shifts meet or exceed overall customer satisfaction and service expectations.
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Supervising a shift operation and ensure staffing is appropriate to manage workload with minimal overtime.
- Coordinate production team to produce and prioritize jobs, and when necessary reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
- Accomplish manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; plan, monitor and appraise job results.
- Coach and counsel associates while coordinating and enforcing process controls, policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with the Department Manager, informing and updating regularly to guarantee that customer service, sales and customer’s objectives are met.
- Frequently monitor quality and instruct employees how to maintain quality standards.
- Facilitate departmental cross training and development plan for each employee.
- Review operating data and investigate deviations from anticipated performance. Initiate and implement necessary corrective action.
- Follow and enforce policies and procedures. Initiate disciplinary measures according to company policy.
- Work with maintenance manager to identify mechanical problems and maintain equipment.
- Maintains staff by orienting and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
- Ensure that the department is compliant with all SQF and Quality initiatives and standards.
- Comply with all OSHA safety requirements.

Job Specification/Requirements:
- Knowledge and printing industry experience preferred.
- Must have Associates degree or related experience.
- Minimum of 2-5 years wide web printing experience; production supervisory experience a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Comprehensive background, understanding, and experience with PC and Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Complete understanding of flexographic printing; ISO experience is a plus.
Essential Functions:
- Reading, writing, computer and math/analytical skills necessary to analyze job cost data, understand production orders and quote requests, yields, etc. Math skills should include reading measurements, the calibrations of a ruler needed to measure layout sheets, defining variation, defining acceptance criteria and run testing equipment.
- Effective communication skills in order to interact with all departments involved with sales, pricing, technical, graphics, production, and shipping, often in press situations or under the stress of deadlines. Must have the ability to reason the source of the production problem.
- Reliable and predictable attendance.
- Ability to work in cooperative manner with others.
- Familiarity with company policies to advise employees.
- Ability to evaluate, assess and make decisions.
- Must have mobility necessary to interact with all departments located throughout the building.
- Must be able to distinguish subtle shades of color accurately in order to match samples and colorimeter. (Munsell Color test is required.)
- Reflexes must be in excellent condition for quick response time around moving machinery. Employee must be able to react to rapidly moving parts in order to avoid serious injury to his/herself or other employee’s limbs or other life threatening injuries. Employee must be completely alert at all times to and observe strict safety precautions around operating machinery.
- Must have good organizational skills to maintain records.
