The Lead Guidance Counselor serves as the primary coordinator of the school's comprehensive student support and counseling program. This role provides leadership to the counseling team, ensures alignment with district policies, and fosters a positive, student-centered school culture that prioritizes academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and postsecondary planning. The Lead Counselor collaborates with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to support student success and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support the daily operations of the school counseling department.
  • Provide direct counseling services to students, including academic advising, graduation planning, college/career readiness, and social-emotional support.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of the school's counseling program, including annual schedules, student registration, and course selection.
  • Lead data-informed practices to monitor student progress, identify at-risk students, and develop targeted interventions.
  • Support and mentor counseling staff; facilitate regular department meetings and professional learning.
  • Serve as a liaison among students, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with state and district policies, confidentiality standards, and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
  • Valid state school counselor certification/licensure.
  • Demonstrated experience in secondary school counseling and leadership.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
