The Opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, we’re not just imagining the future of power—we’re building it. As part of our Power Consulting group in Raleigh, North Carolina, you’ll join a team of forward-thinkers who are reshaping how energy flows across the grid. This is your chance to work on high-impact projects that drive the integration of renewables, enhance grid reliability, and support the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.

We’re looking for professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and are excited by the challenge of solving complex power system problems. Whether you're modeling transmission networks, advising utilities on grid modernization, or exploring the role of AI in energy systems, your work will directly influence the future of energy.

Our consulting team operates independently of product lines, giving you the freedom to recommend the best solutions across the industry. You’ll collaborate with experts, engage with clients, and contribute to studies that shape policy, investment, and innovation in the power sector. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact and grow your career in a purpose-driven organization, this is the opportunity for you.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Collaborate with senior consultants to deliver high-value energy studies.

  • Build and refine simulation models for transmission and distribution systems.

  • Analyze system performance under various operational and contingency scenarios.

  • Present technical findings to clients and stakeholders in clear, compelling formats.

  • Support integration of renewables, storage, and emerging technologies.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and regulatory filings.

  • Apply AI/ML tools to enhance grid analytics and forecasting.

  • Engage in continuous learning and innovation within the power sector.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Electrical Power/Energy Systems and 3 years of experience in power system studies, or Master’s degree and 1 year of experience, or PhD.

  • Proficiency in simulation tools like PSS/E, PSCAD, MATLAB, DSATools, ETAP, CYME, SKM, or ASPEN.

  • Experience or coursework in programming, AI/ML, and power system analysis.

  • Familiarity with transmission planning, stability studies, and electromagnetic transients.

  • Exposure to renewables, energy storage, EV charging, or AI/ML applications in power systems.

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
