Since our inception more than 20 years ago, we have been developing a proprietary drug delivery platform for treatment of a variety of retinal disorders. Our drug delivery platform - Encapsulated Cell Technology (ECT) - is designed to deliver genetically modified therapeutics to slow the progression of chronic retinal diseases. Our most advanced program is delivering a neurotrophic factor to treat the orphan disease Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel).
Neurotech is seeking a Senior Director, Professional Education to lead strategic key opinion leader engagement and professional education initiatives for ENCELTO, a cell-based gene therapy and first approved treatment for Macular Telangiectasia (MacTel) Type 2. This role oversees a team responsible for cultivating relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), retina specialists, and professional societies to advance advocacy, education, and product adoption.
The Senior Director will build, develop and coach a high performing team. This role will partner cross-functionally with Brand Marketing, Sales and Medical Affairs to drive alignment across all customer engagement efforts and ensure programs are executed with excellence, compliance, and scientific rigor.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a high-performing team, create performance metrics for growth, accountability, and goal alignment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align field insights with commercial strategies.
- Maintain strong partnership with brand marketing and sales for provider engagement, field insights, and market development execution.
- Develop and implement the national and regional thought leader engagement plan and professional advocacy strategy with commercial goals for each.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships with KOLs, academic institutions, and professional societies.
- Engage with healthcare professionals to understand their educational needs and gather feedback for continuous program improvement.
- Set strategy for peer-to-peer initiatives, including program design, speaker engagement, and content strategy across speaker programs and other initiatives to support education and adoption.
- Working cross-functionally, lead Neurotech’s presence at major congresses and conferences, manage sponsorship opportunities and exhibit presence, while ensuring that the return on investment is appropriate to the spend.
- Organize, conduct, and share readouts from advisory boards related to insight gathering on disease, brand, surgical procedure and other business matters.
- Manage field marketing budget and hiring plan and ensure compliance with all regulatory and industry standards in professional interactions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PhD, PharmD, or MD) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in medical marketing, professional education, or field team leadership within biotech, pharma, or ophthalmology, with at least 5 years of proven success leading teams.
- Successful Launch experience and driving advocacy within retina disease areas and ophthalmic surgery experience preferred.
- Established relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in retina and ophthalmology is preferred.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive results and adapt to evolving market dynamics.
- Willingness/ability to travel domestically up to 75% of the time; international travel may be required.
- Ability to positively connect across multiple stakeholders, including experience of working with senior leaders across the US and in multiple time zones.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to interface both internal and external stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and senior management.
- Strong strategic planning, communication, relationship management skills and with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
