Job Contributions and Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and creation of strategic communications for RAC globally, working with leadership to drive a proactive message that aligns with company goals, initiatives, and objectives, both internally and externally.
- Partner with RAC’s Senior Leadership and Management teams, assisting them
- in communicating their initiatives and business strategies companywide.
- Develop email communications, campaigns, and other materials that support their business needs.
- Ensure consistency of messaging and communicate broader and more impactful stories.
- Support overall business goals by working with Directors and their teams across the company, including production, human resources, organizational development, wellness, safety and other critical departments to help drive their department initiatives through company communications.
- Develop and create unique communication materials and campaigns that deliver their intended messaging concisely to drive awareness, change, or for educational purposes.
- Manage thought leadership, key messaging, speaking engagements, and interview opportunities for the CEO and Senior Leadership.
- Support internal and external presentation development, including Board, C-Suite, Senior Leadership and Executive Chairman materials regarding
- company-related business objectives, initiatives and projects.
- Support the Executive Chairmen and CEO with ghost-writing for Board of Director’s correspondence and materials, professional letters and other company-related communications.
- Lead a team of Communication professionals in the U.S. and Mexico, as well as a dotted-line relationship with team members in Europe and Africa.
- Distribute and allocate work to the teams, mentor and coach direct reports on their progress against goals/initiatives, evaluate performance and the execution of overall communication campaigns/materials.
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership and Management Team to develop/support and implement communication events including Annual State of the Company, District Company Townhalls, Taste of the Marketplace, Facebook Live Events, as well as communication materials such as the Global Newsletter, Company videos (YouTube), Beyond the Berry Podcast and other Company global communications.
- Act as corporate media contact and respond to members of the media in a timely manner; compose and distribute press releases as needed.
- Establish communication systems, applications, processes, templates (PowerPoint, press releases, social media posts, internal forms) and channels to support consistent, effective and efficient communications for the Company globally.
- Oversea the training and maintenance of communication channels.
- Successfully measure the progress, results, and impact of communications efforts on internal channels (SharePoint, Teams, MailChimp) and external channels (Social Media, Google Analytics, Website).
- Manage Mexico and U.S. budgets, resources and planning for the Corporate Communications Department & Community Engagement function that aligns
- with company objectives and priorities.
- Oversee the management of all social media channels for RAC globally, including 7 Facebook accounts, 2 Instagram accounts, 3 LinkedIn accounts, 2 Twitter Accounts and 1 You Tube Channel.
- Oversee the content, design and ongoing maintenance of RAC, BerryMex and BerryCentro website, as well as the secondary websites of BerrySafe,
- BeyondtheBerry, BerryPhoto, and Neighbor Notification.com.
- Lead efforts that advance the Company’s Employer brand narrative and expand awareness of RAC’s mission and role as an agricultural industry leader.
- Support efforts and initiatives that help mitigate the Company’s risk or reputation (externally) through proactive engagement with key stakeholders, advocates, government and elected officials, and media.
- Prepare and implement reactive strategies, key messages, as needed.
- Actively engage, cultivate, and manage media relationships to maximize coverage of RAC events, public announcements, thought leadership, and campaigns.
- Oversee and manage the relationship with all external PR agencies (US / Mexico)
- Build deep relationships with press, government, industry professionals,
- growers, partners, and other external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership and Management teams on issues and crisis management globally, protocols for large scale announcements, leadership transitions, business interruptions and prepare corporate materials, messaging, fact sheets, FAQs, Q&As, and employee announcements.
- Provide leadership, input and support to RAC’s crisis communications team on key decisions relating to communications and messaging (internally / eternally).
- Oversee mainstream news media and social media monitoring throughout company crisis globally, reporting regularly to Senior Leadership and/or Crisis Communications Team members on company mentions, alerts or news.
- Direct and collaborate with PR agencies to ensure messaging, company statements, media management, etc., are in alignment with Senior Leadership decisions and position.
- Oversee and host media training for the Senior Leadership, Management team
- and key personnel globally.
- Agricultural and industry-related knowledge of trends and issues.
- Social media and online platforms and the execution of communications programs through the cause of relevant and trending technology and platforms.
- Directing communication campaigns in a global setting and supporting initiatives and activities that are tied to company strategy and business objectives.
- Emerging creative concepts, tools and communication’s best practices to execute across a variety of channels.
- Government relations / lobbing activities and legal restrictions and limitations.
- Community based organizing, advocacy and influencing. Importance of connecting and relationship building and adversarial stakeholders
- Understand and distill highly technical information and content, understand its relevance to the Company and industry, and develop tailored messages by audience.
- Leverage agricultural industry research, business plans and operational and other market data to develop communications strategies and plans designed to support business goals and initiatives.
- Demonstrate superior interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas internally and externally.
- Demonstrate excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence others with persuasive communication techniques.
- Execute media campaigns, crisis management, building relationships with media and working with executives and employees at all levels.
- Experience managing corporate issues and project management with complex and diverse issues, especially in the agricultural industry.
- Experience managing PR agencies and independent contractors and putting in place processes and systems to drive and measure results.
- Proven abilities in executing complex communications programs with an emphasis on storytelling and integration across traditional and digital marketing channels.
- Demonstrate charismatic and balanced leadership, with strong intellectual agility and capacity for original thought but the willingness to roll up sleeves and execute.
- Communicate fluently (written, verbal, presentation, listening) in English and Spanish required.
