The Harris School of Public Policy invites applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor to expand its course offerings in data science, data visualization, programming, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and civic technology.

 

Specific course offerings can be tailored to the strengths of well-qualified applicants. Possible courses include: Introduction to Data and Programming for Public Policy, Data Visualization for Policy Analysis, Applications of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Public Policy, and Civic Technology. Applicants will be evaluated on their expertise in using data and technology for social impact, as well as their teaching/instruction experience.

 

The position will be a two-year, renewable appointment. Qualifications for the appointment must include a demonstrated record of excellent teaching in relevant courses. Applicants must have teaching experience and have completed a Ph.D. by the appointment start date. The Assistant Instructional Professor will teach 4-6 courses per academic year, depending on non-classroom responsibilities. The anticipated start date will be on or after July 1, 2026.

The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University.

 

Salary Range or Pay Grade: $75,676 - $95,000.
