Position Description
This position is responsible for the planning and organizing of work of journeyman in an assigned trade, the development of material and labor estimates for proposed work, as well as the assigned trade shop budget, inventories, procedures and policies. Work is primarily evaluated for effective use of resources, accomplishment of assigned projects, and adherence to trade standards. Supervise task teams and monitor quality, team financial performance and team’s time usage. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Manage and coordinate and support with the install, operation, maintenance and installation of building systems and associated equipment. Manage and have a deep knowledge of occupational and safety hazards in trade and PPE & processes to prevent accidents. Work and respond on weekends, holidays and after hours. Basic understanding of other trades and able to perform or assist in the completion of them.

Major/Essential Functions
- Supervises the work performed by the HVAC and Plumbing teams of the Department.
- Provides leadership and guidance to the HVAC and Plumbing tradesman leaders in the efficient completion of assigned projects and PMs.
- Provides leadership to assigned operators in maintaining, installing and checking existing and/or new mechanical and plumbing installations in coordination with the Mechanical/Plumbing Tradesman Leaders.
- Updates and maintains mechanical and plumbing systems' information, inspections and schematic drawings.
- Installs and maintains mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Assist other trades to install and maintain alarms. fire sprinklers, and electrical systems including related equipment such as HVAC, boilers, Metasys, controls, valves, VFD’s, elevators etc.
- Actively participates and completes training, personal development and continuing education.
- Responds to emergency calls during regular shifts, afterhours, weekends and holidays to correct or remediate the problem.
- Responds to emergencies in accordance with existing procedures and routines (Regular shifts, afterhours, holidays and weekends).
- Supports the 24/7 Foreman to ensure that all 24/7 shifts are properly staffed. Assigns in coordination with the 24/7 Foreman PMs and special projects to the 24/7 team. Monitors in conjunction with the 24/7 Foreman, the quality, promptness and actions taken by the 24/7 team.
- Prepare and submit work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system and takeoffs for construction projects (e.g. directories, PO's), etc.
- Supervises documentation prepared by assigned personnel under the HVAC and Plumbing teams.
- Supervises for accuracy and efficient performance all preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC and plumbing equipment.
- Maintains and monitors building energy management System. Produce reports and energy consumption trends for analysis.
- Remains current with all licensures, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
- Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.

- Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.
- Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Driver's License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check.

Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Three years experience as a licensed journeyman in the assigned trade; or six years experience in designated trade.
- Job-related vocational training and other education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Thorough knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods and practices of the assigned trade.
