ABOUT THE POSITION
The Project Accountant manages financial operations across multiple client engagements, ensuring accurate project accounting and adherence to contract terms. This role oversees work-in-progress (WIP) management, supports revenue optimization, and ensures compliance with GAAP standards. Key responsibilities include monitoring project budgets, managing revenue recognition, preparing client invoices, and analyzing financial data to identify trends and improve profitability.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle project accounting, including setup, budget tracking, and cost allocation.
Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), revenue recognition, and project margins for accurate financial reporting.
Review client contracts to ensure billing terms, deliverables, and revenue recognition align with agreements.
Prepare and submit invoices based on contract milestones and service terms.
Collaborate with consultants and project managers to identify revenue opportunities and improve profitability.
Analyze project financial data to uncover trends, variances, and areas for financial improvement.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies across all project activities.
Generate monthly and quarterly financial statements, forecasts, and WIP schedules for leadership review
Reconcile project activity with operations, finance, and client teams to ensure financial accuracy.
Provide actionable financial insights to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree
Preferred: CPA or CMA
Experience
Required: 3 years of project accounting experience, ideally in professional services and consulting.
Special Skills:
Advanced proficiency in NetSuite, with hands-on experience managing project financials and reporting.
In-depth understanding of contract structures, WIP accounting, and revenue recognition principles.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation and analysis.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple client engagements concurrently.
