GENERAL SUMMARY:
Saginaw Public Schools Career and Technical Education teacher aides are responsible for providing support to the Career and Technical Education program within their assigned classroom with specific responsibility for working with individual and/or small groups of students in a specialized area.

Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and/or walk, may be required to lift up to 30 lbs. Depending on the instructional program, the employee may be required to carry, push and/or pull up to 30 lbs., stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the organization and implementation of the instructional program and delivery system that will prepare students to meet industry recognized requirements for employment and continuing education
Support all activities necessary to retain Michigan Department of Education Career and Technical Education approval of the program.
Actively participate in Saginaw Career Complex committee structure and professional development activities
Support classroom management efforts.
Support the instruction of technical, academic, career and employability, and technology course content
Help maintain a positive climate for teaching and learning
Assist in the recruitment of students and marketing of the program
Collaborate with the program instructor in the delivery and assessment of academic content to ensure student achievement of academic standards
Actively involve students in clubs, organizations, competitive events, and community service activities.
Communicate effectively with professionals and parents.
Instruct students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments.
Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records.
Monitor individual and/or groups of students in a variety of CTE settings for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
Perform general clerical tasks (e.g. student attendance records, requisitions for supplies, making copies, etc.) to help the Teacher get instructional materials ready.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1. High school graduate or equivalent
2. A minimum of 60 semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university (or) pass the ACTWorkKeys; Job Skills Assessment
3. Working towards a degree in education preferred
4. Previous classroom aide experience preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Attend any training as mandated by the State or Building Administrator
WORKING CONDITIONS: (varies depending on CTE program)
School environment where there may be physical discomfort due to temperature, dust or the like, depending on location of CTE program (i.e., computer lab vs. auto shop)
Noise level in this environment may be moderate to loud

CURRICULA RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist the teacher in delivering instructional objectives and student support for a variety of CTE settings as developed by the building.
2. Support the teacher and other school personnel in the implementation of curriculum and teaching methodologies

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
