Inclusion Specialist – Full-Time
YMCA of the North Shore Association | Supporting Early Education & School Age Programs

The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a Full-Time Inclusion Specialist to support inclusion efforts across our Early Education and School Age programs within our Association. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on creating equitable, inclusive learning environments and has experience supporting children through early intervention, IEPs, and behavior planning.
What You’ll Do

Support educators and site directors across multiple YMCA locations to ensure children of all abilities are set up for success.

Observe and document children’s development, engagement, and social-emotional growth to inform individualized support strategies.

Based on behavioral trends, develop and implement behavior plans that promote positive participation and lasting success in YMCA programs.

Collaborate with families, staff, and external partners (including schools and specialists) to coordinate support and consistency across settings.

Review and analyze behavioral incident reports, identifying trends and creating proactive strategies for improvement.

Provide hands-on coaching and model inclusive practices for childcare and teaching staff.

Facilitate staff training, workshops, and family engagement opportunities focused on inclusion, behavior support, and social-emotional development.

Conduct or support developmental screenings and assessments, communicate results clearly, and adjust support plans as needed.
What You Bring
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.

Experience working with both Early Education and School Age children in structured childcare or educational settings.

Background or familiarity with Early Intervention services and IEP processes.

Strong understanding of child development, social/emotional learning, and inclusive education principles.

Ability to identify the motivation behind child behavior and implement effective, compassionate strategies.

Experience collaborating with families, educators, and community agencies to support children’s needs.

Excellent communication, observation, and coaching skills.

Qualifications
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Special Education, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred but not required

Previous experience working with diverse populations and building authentic relationships across backgrounds.

Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully implement child safety and behavioral support plans.

Knowledge of child development, social/emotional health, and trauma-informed practices.

Experience working with state agencies and knowledge of local community resources for families.

Sound judgment, professionalism, and empathy when working with children, families, and staff.

Salary range is based on education and experience, with higher ranges available for candidates holding a master’s degree.
Requirements

Must provide and maintain all documentation and certifications required by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).

Must complete all trainings, certifications, and program orientation as required by EEC and the YMCA of the North Shore.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.

Must be able to react quickly to the unpredictable actions and needs of children.
