Description
Lakes Gas Co. CDL transport driver’s primary responsibilities include delivering transport loads of propane from refineries, Lakes Gas branches and Lakes Gas bulk plants. Transporting cylinders to and from drop points and Morris, Illinois. Delivering to residential and commercial locations in a bobtail. The employee’s duties include the performance of safety-affecting activities on a motor vehicle used in transportation on public highways in interstate commerce. This is a DOT regulated position that complies with drug and alcohol polices.
This person needs to be safety conscious, have a strong mechanical aptitude, good math skills and possess good CDL driving skills. This position will be working in extreme weather conditions. This position entails climbing in and out of the truck cab multiple times, driving long distances, and some heavy lifting. They must be able to follow company policies and procedures, along with DOT regulations and state and local laws. Must comply with NFPA Pamphlets 54 and 58.
Requirements
- Valid Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements (or the ability to obtain requisite endorsements) without air brake restrictions
- A clean driving record verifiable by a Federal Motor Vehicle Report
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical and maintain a Federal DOT medical card
- Must have the ability to read, write, and clearly communicate in the English Language
- Must be able to comply with federal drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Qualified candidates will be safety conscious and customer service oriented
- Ability to operate and maintain handheld tablets
- Inspect vehicle and notify supervisor of needed equipment, supplies or routine maintenance
- DOT Hazmat Training and Maintenance every three years
- Maintains compliance with all DOT requirements
Physical Demands:
- Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to pull delivery hose
- Must be able to bend, climb, reach, and rotate as needed
- Filling, loading, securing and delivering propane cylinders or bulk
- Must be capable of sitting and traveling for a couple hours at a time without stopping.
