Who We’re Looking For

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Test Engineer with 7+ years of professional experience in the design, build, and execution of spacecraft propulsion or avionics test systems. This is a senior-level role for an engineer eager to take ownership of test operations, data systems, and anomaly resolution across propulsion and spacecraft platforms. You will work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver flight-ready hardware and scalable test solutions.

This role requires strong proficiency in test system design (fluid, electrical, and structural), instrumentation and data acquisition, and hands-on test execution in demanding environments such as high-vacuum, pressurized, and high-voltage systems.

Where You’ll Make an Impact

  • Design and build novel test fixtures, test setups, and test stands for propulsion and spacecraft systems.
  • Develop and analyze structures, fluid systems, mechanisms, and integrated test stands.
  • Author and own test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Lead anomaly investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
  • Instrument and operate complex test systems, including data acquisition, pressure systems, sublimation systems, strain gauges, accelerometers, and high-voltage hardware.
  • Manage data analysis, trend identification, and reporting to drive product quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with propulsion, avionics, and manufacturing teams to integrate testing into the full spacecraft lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement of test systems, safety practices, and data workflows.

What It Takes

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline (M.S. preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in the design, build, and test of propulsion or high-reliability aerospace systems.
  • Strong proficiency with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and controls.
  • Hands-on experience with high-vacuum chamber testing and fluid/pressurized systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and schematics.
  • Demonstrated root cause corrective action and anomaly resolution experience.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar for data reduction and automation.
  • GD&T proficiency and mechanical design experience.
  • Experience in materials & processes or chemical handling for propulsion applications.
  • Lean Six Sigma or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer credentials.
  • Experience supporting full lifecycle spacecraft programs from system design through sustainment.

What You’ll Get

  • Innovation – The opportunity to develop and test next-generation spacecraft propulsion systems.
  • Impact – See your work directly enable mission success.
  • Growth – Opportunities for technical leadership in a fast-growing space company.
  • Compensation – Competitive salary, equity, and top-tier benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing.

Additional Requirements

To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
