Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED or higher, and three (3) years of experience in law enforcement evidence, property warehousing, or disposal, including one (1) year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Position Duties
Under general supervision, supervise receipt, storage and disposition of impounded properties and evidence, and the receipt and distribution of supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
Oversee and supervise a secure area for impounded properties and evidence. Involves: Supervise the receipt of property and evidence in accordance with established procedures. Maintain accurate records to document the receipt of property and evidence. Maintain security of the storage area, monitor stored evidence for control purposes and ensure adequate storage space. Ensure that seized or unclaimed property is release with proper documentation or disposed by destruction or auction. Provide input into the budget development process. May testify in count regarding the integrity of the evidence storage process.
Oversee and supervise the supply office to ensure the availability of adequate tools and equipment to perform law enforcement tasks. Involves: Oversee the ordering and receipt of supplies and materials. Order supplies and materials and maintain adequate inventory. Ensure that procurement policies and procedures are follow including review of invoices, packing slips and completed paperwork is forward for vendor payment. Inspect goods received to ensure conformance with specifications. Promote the observation of safe work practices at all times.
Supervise assigned staff. Involves: Assign, schedule and monitor work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development. Interview applicants; recommend hiring, discipline, termination, merit pay or other employee status changes subject to management approval. Enforce personnel rules and regulations, work behavior and work integrity standards firmly and impartially.
Perform duties of subordinate personnel as necessary to ensure continuity of operations during absences. Complete reports as required and various forms such as purchase or work orders and maintain accurate records.
