Centurion is proud to be the provider of comprehensive healthcare services to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

We are currently seeking a full-time Associate Director of Nursing (Medical) to join our team at Georgia Diagnostic & Classification State Prison (GDCP), a 2,300-bed facility in Jackson, GA. GDCP is the state’s primary intake and diagnostic prison, processing approximately 300–350 new intakes per week in addition to ongoing medical operations. This is a large, 24/7 correctional environment where clinical leadership, communication, and cultural support are critical.

Location: Georgia Diagnostic & Classification State Prison (GDCP) | Jackson, Georgia
Schedule: Full Time | Day Shift | Monday–Friday (some weekend coverage required) | 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Salary: $105,000 annually

The Associate Director of Nursing (ADON) provides leadership and supervision for nursing and support staff in a correctional setting. Reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON), the ADON ensures delivery of safe, high-quality nursing care, supports process improvement, and fosters a culture of accountability and teamwork.

This role requires a leader with strong communication skills, the ability to train and mentor staff, and the confidence to give constructive feedback while also supporting staff morale. The ADON must actively collaborate with Providers, the Health Services Administrator (HSA), and the Director of Nursing (DON) to maintain continuity of care and smooth operations in a 24-hour facility.

This position is ideal for a confident nursing leader with correctional healthcare experience and a background in emergency, trauma, or critical care. The right candidate will thrive in a large-scale intake facility while mentoring staff, supporting Providers, and driving clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support nursing and ancillary staff to ensure quality and timely patient care.

  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to nursing staff to strengthen clinical and teamwork skills.

  • Communicate effectively across all levels of staff and leadership to support collaboration and workflow.

  • Deliver constructive feedback while maintaining staff morale and promoting a supportive work culture.

  • Collaborate closely with Providers, HSA, and DON to coordinate care, address clinical needs, and ensure operational efficiency.

  • Support Providers directly by assisting with workflow, clinical processes, and communication with the nursing team.

  • Oversee clinical workflows in a 2,300-bed intake facility managing 300–350 new intakes weekly.

  • Provide hands-on nursing care as needed, with emphasis on complex wound care, IV therapy, and PICC line management.

  • Participate in staff orientation, training, and performance evaluations.

  • Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

  • Support process improvement initiatives and implementation of change, while recognizing the need for patience and staff buy-in.

  • Maintain professional confidence and composure in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred; Associate’s degree with equivalent experience will be considered.

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia.

  • Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience required; prior supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.

  • Strong background in Emergency Room (ER), Trauma, or Critical Care nursing strongly preferred; correctional healthcare experience strongly preferred.

  • Must demonstrate strong clinical competence, including wound care, IV therapy, and PICC line management.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, train staff, and provide constructive feedback in a professional manner.

  • Must obtain and maintain a security clearance, including drug screening and criminal background check.

  • Current CPR certification required.

  • Current PPD (tuberculosis screening) required.
