Byron School District #226 is seeking a Family and Consumer Education Instructor for the 2026-2027 School year. The ideal candidate would educate and empower students with essential life skills in areas such as nutrition, food preparation, personal finance, child development, and family dynamics.
Courses taught:
- Educational Pathway course
- Child Development (ECE Level 1 Credential)
- Child Care
- Consumer Education
- Culinary I
Responsibilities
- Engage in curriculum development
- Manage a safe and well-equipped kitchen classroom
- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction, including meal planning, food preparation/safety
- Ability to teach a wide range of topics including nutrition, financial literacy, parenting, relationships and home management
- Foster a supportive learning environment for diverse learners
Qualifications
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement (or ability to obtain)
