KOB Educator at The Parent Child Center of Tulsa

JOB SUMMARY 

Serve as a puppeteer for The Parent Child Center of Tulsa’s Kids on the Block (KOB) program. As a part of the agency’s Youth Programs department, this position utilizes opportunities to provide support and education about all Youth Programs in the community.   

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Works closely with the Youth Program Manager and KOB Lead Educator to deliver Kids on the Block puppet shows to elementary age students.
2. Maintains fidelity through precise memorization of ALL Kids on the Block scripts. 
3. Practices lines and manipulation of puppets as necessary to become proficient at performing for groups and handling puppets.   
4. Receives feedback and direction regarding puppetry style and program implementation from Youth Programs Manager.  
5. Performs puppet shows in teams of two, in schools or at other community venues. Provides Kids on the Block program in virtual space as needed. 
6. Assists in Kids on the Block stage set up and stage tear down. 
7. Represents PCCT by participating in community fairs, conference workshops, and marketing meetings when applicable.   
8. Supports Youth Programs and other agency initiatives when necessary.  
9. Continues to enhance professional skills and knowledge through workshops and in-service trainings. 
10. Attends department staff meetings, agency staff meetings, individual supervision, and all agency events. 
11. Consistently follows all agency policies and procedures. 
12. Demonstrates the agency’s values of compassion, respect, learning, adaptability, and achievement.   

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or GED equivalency. 
2. One year of prior experience working with children (4 to 12 years of age). 
3. Must have a valid driver’s license, ability to safely and reliably drive to and from performances.   
4. Ability to lift 40 lbs. 
5. Ability to hold puppets at required position for extended periods of time. 
6. Availability during regular business hours, weekends, and evenings when necessary. 
7. Excellent oral communication and active listening skills. 
8. Excellent ability to establish rapport with both professionals and children. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience performing with puppets. 
2. Bilingual – Spanish/English 

WORK SCHEDULE

30 hours a week, Monday - Friday during regular business hours.
