Job Title: Student Life Van Driver
Classification: Non-Exempt, Student Worker
Reports To: Senior Administrative Assistant
Job Summary/Objective: Seeking responsible and qualified individuals to drive the 15-passenger Sweet Briar vans to transport students off-campus for local shopping and entertainment. Off-campus destinations may include businesses and attractions in the Central Virginia area (mainly Madison Heights, Amherst, Lynchburg, but could be as far as Charlottesville or Richmond). Van Driver will be compensated for their time preparing/checking out the vehicle and driving the vehicle to and from destinations. Should a trip be to a ticketed attraction/event, complementary tickets to attractions for the driver will be provided, should the driver wish to attend the event itself.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours: Hours will vary depending on the need for scheduled trips. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as scheduled. Scheduling will be completed by the Senior Administrative Assistant and will be based on the need for drivers/frequency of off-campus trips.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Drive the SBC 15-passenger vans to local businesses, such as Walmart, Target, etc., as a shuttle system
- Drive the SBC 15-passenger van to local businesses and attractions as part of events sponsored by campus organizations such as Student Life, CEO, etc.
- The driver will be responsible for the safety of the students that they are driving: following all traffic guidelines, utilizing good judgment in addressing passenger behavior if needed, etc.
- Arrive 20 minutes before the shuttle start time to pick up the SBC van, complete the appropriate paperwork, and be on time at the pick-up location
- Utilize trip attendance rosters to accurately maintain records of trip/shuttle attendance totals
- Routinely provide trip reports and report any questions/concerns to the supervisor
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license for a minimum of 3+ years and a clean driving record, as verified by Human Resources
- Must have successfully completed the Sweet Briar van certification program (can be completed after applying, but must be approved before the start of the position.
- Must be MVR checked and approved by Human Resources
- Must be 24 years of age or older
- Must be available to work evenings and/or select weekend dates as scheduled by the Senior Administrative Assistant
- Must be reliable, responsible, and timely
- Must be able to use good judgment in decision-making
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous van/shuttle driving experience
- Current/active SBC van certification
Work Environment: Driving the shuttle in various weather conditions (trips will be canceled if dangerous weather occurs)
Physical Demands: Sitting, while driving, for periods of time.
Travel: Driving the shuttle to local area attractions and businesses (Central Virginia area)
