Utility Engineering Manager (Internal Search) at Alabama State University

About the Department

Alabama State University, Physical Plant, invites applications for the position of Utility Engineering Manager.  The candidate selected will perform master level work in the design, installation, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of plumbing apparatuses, equipment, and systems with the University's facilities.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervises and assists in the installation, repair and servicing of centrifugal  and reciprocating air conditioning units ranging from ¾ ton to 175 ton capacity
• Initiates or approves requisitions for materials and equipment needed by the HVAV unit
• Establishes and maintains a preventive maintenance program, and schedules all air conditioning, hearing, and mechanical equipment to periodic servicing as required by manufacturer's specifications
• Studies production schedules and estimates work-hour requirements for completion of job assignments
• Interprets specifications, blue prints and job orders for workers, and assigns specific job tasks
• Maintains maintenance and warranty records on installed equipment
• Interprets University policy to subordinate staff, and enforces safety regulations
• Plans, supervises and conducts training of staff members regarding equipment that they are required to service
• Estimates the cost of repairs and advises the physical plant director on the appropriateness of proposed outside contracts
• Inspects all heating and cooling equipment periodically to ensure proper operation
• Prepares performance evaluation reports on all staff members in the unit
• Prepares the annual operating budget for HVAC services
• Performs other duties as assigned
