Description
Purpose of this position:
- A Quality of Life Specialist is a team member who assists with creating an interactive, fun environment based on the elder’s desired interest, holiday events and/or activities on/off campus. The Quality of life specialist is responsible for assisting with planning, developing, and executing activities and restorative plans to the elders in an individual and/or group setting on a daily bases.
Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Decorating/preparing for holidays, activities, and events:
- Planning/creating events to celebrate the holidays, birthdays, happy hours , planting/attending flowers/gardens etc.
- Decorate/Undercoating common areas for all holidays/events
- Encouraging and assisting staff/elders decorate your assigned neighborhood for holidays and events
- Assisting with notify families and elders of events and/or holidays
Documentation/Development requirements:
- Complete daily documentation or your assigned neighborhood on restorative programs
- Responsible for completing MDS section F for activities (quarterly, annually, significant changes and on admission)
- Responsible for completing the following reviews:
- Activities initial review
- Activities quarterly and annual participation reviews
- Develop a weekly calendar for your assigned neighborhood to prepare the elders for the upcoming events.
- Develop flyers for building wide events and/or large events
- Develop flyers/signs to prepare the elders for committee meetings and/or Resident council
Restorative Programs:
- Needs to be able read and execute a written Restorative program tailored to the individual resident (such as walk to dine, ROM, exercise group and/or individual sessions)
- Responsible for executing the required session for recommended assigned restorative programs
- Responsible for attending the weekly trainings on new programs on Tuesdays/Thursdays at 9:30
- Responsible for notifying the director when a program is no longer appropriate for the elder
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Kansas CNA license
- Activities and Restorative Aide certifications, or ability to complete the courses within 45 days of hire
