Basic Function:

The Director of Community Day Services (CDS) provides comprehensive leadership, oversight, and vision for the CDS program. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services that promote independence, community inclusion, and skill development for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Director oversees all aspects of program operations, including staffing, compliance, training, quality assurance, and participant outcomes. They are responsible for developing systems and processes that strengthen program structure, efficiency, and alignment with the organization’s mission and values.

The Director cultivates a positive and therapeutic environment that supports the emotional well-being, growth, and dignity of each individual served. This includes fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among staff.

Overall, the Director of CDS plays a key role in advancing the organization’s mission by leading a program that empowers individuals to reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

 

Reporting Relationship:

Reports To: Vice President of Community Day Services

Supervises (Position Title): Lead QIDP, Office Coordinator

 

Principle Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership, supervision, mentoring, and professional development to all direct reports.
  • Promote a person-centered philosophy that values individual choice, self-advocacy, and active participation.
  • Oversee program planning, service delivery, and documentation to ensure compliance with agency policies, funding requirements, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, families, guardians, and community partners to enhance program effectiveness and expand opportunities for participants.
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Support the development and implementation of individualized goals, curricula, and activities that promote learning and engagement.
  • Provide administrative oversight, including budgeting, scheduling, reporting, and data tracking in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure delivery and/or coordination of all Community Day Services are in compliance with DHS Rule 119 and 120, agency mission, agency policy and procedure, program guidelines and best practice.
  • Provide leadership to day program services that person-centered activities and curriculum- based programs are scheduled, organized, and implemented across all day service programming.
  • Assist with the intake process for screening and program placement for CDS programs.
  • Responsible for overseeing operations across multiple program locations.
  • Effectively carry out other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with developmental
  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory/administrative
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with regulatory agencies and funding sources, including the application of Rule 119, BQM, and BALC standards.
  • Valid Driver’s license

$69,680. Annually

Mental Demands:

Must organize, communicate, analyze data, evaluate, follow-up multiple activities.  Position requires strong interpersonal and professional communication, presented through written, oral and through multi-media. In performing duties, the employee frequently uses hand-to-fingers movement.  Physical activities, such as standing, writing on blackboards, talking, listening and mediating discussions in a group setting, occur frequently.  The employee may also be involved in movements that require strength, agility, and mobility for pulling, carrying, or lifting 20-25 pounds.
