This position requires the flexibility to work both daytime and overnight shifts.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Provide recovery education to service recipients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.
  2. Provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible. 
  3. Assist recovering persons to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery. 
  4. Assist/coach recovering persons develop their own plan for advancing their recovery; for “getting the life they want.”
  5. Recovery Planning -- facilitate (via personal coaching) the transition from a professionally directed service plan to a self-directed Recovery Plan.  The goal should be to transition from professionally assisted recovery initiation to personally directed, community supported recovery maintenance.
  6. Promote self-advocacy by assisting recovering persons to have their voices fully heard; their needs, goals and objectives established as the focal point of rehabilitation and clinical services.
  7. Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self- help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person’s goals and interests.
  8. Assist in identifying barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and developing strategies to overcome those barriers.
    1. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect while maintaining agency standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and objectivity. 
    2. Maintain all HIPAA and 42 CFR confidentiality requirements and regulations as outlined in CARF policies and procedures.
    3. Comply with agency policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
    4. All other duties as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR POSITION



    1. Be at least 18 years of age.
    2. Self-identify as a person who has direct personal experience receiving mental health and/or substance use services.
    3.  Have two continuous years in recovery with experience in navigating treatment services and/or prevention and is comfortable sharing their recovery story as a tool in helping.
    4. Complete Peer Recovery Coach training for a certified program or trainer
    1. Supportive of the mission of Prairie Ridge and the patients we serve.
    2. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, as well as documentation requirements.
    3. Technology skills allowing for proficiency in use of electronic health record.
    1. Travel may be required as this is a community-based program position. 
    1. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is often required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance.
    2. The employee must infrequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or more up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
