JOB TITLE: Communications Strategist
REPORTS TO: Director of Communications
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Communications Strategist will play a key role in telling the LEAD Public Schools story both internally and externally by managing critical communications projects. This position will support the Director of Communications in coordinating and enhancing communication between schools, families, and the community, with the goal of increasing engagement among all stakeholders for LEAD Public Schools.
Responsibilities:
Communications and Branding Support
Support the development of both proactive and responsive communications campaigns for the network.
Draft copy for various platforms including website, blog, newsletters, network publications, media releases, etc.
Develop and ensure timely delivery of internal and external newsletters.
Help develop and support systems necessary for schools to generate high-quality content suitable for publication on social media, website, and newsletters.
Create brand appropriate graphics, flyers, and collateral that reinforces the LEAD vision and brand identity.
Digital Presence Management
Develop a robust social media strategy and manage the network’s social media accounts, including content that supports the overarching communications strategy.
Provide support to individual schools to improve social media presences.
Manage the LEAD Public Schools website and support all campuses in website maintenance.
Qualifications:
Minimum of three to five years experience working in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
The ideal candidate for this position will have communications experience in K-12 education and a strong grasp of current issues in public education.
Prior experience working within organizational communications such as producing organizational newsletters, managing social media, or managing website content.
Excellent written and oral communication and people skills, with an ability to represent the mission and values of LEAD Public Schools.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or related field or significant relevant work experience in these areas.
Desire to continuously learn and increase effectiveness as a professional.
Proficient use of current technologies, including, but not limited to Google Suite, graphic design software (Canva, InDesign, etc.), website management platforms, and video editing software.
This is a full-time position. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and includes full benefits and technology provisions.
