As a Production Lead, you are responsible for guiding a team of operators, packers, and line workers to meet production goals while upholding quality, food safety, and workplace standards. Working closely with the Production Supervisor, you help drive daily execution, provide on-the-floor support and training, and maintain a smooth, safe, and efficient workflow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Production Supervisor in coordinating daily production operations across mixing, baking, packing, and machine operation lines.
  • Provide hands-on support and leadership to team members, ensuring proper start-up, operation, and shut-down of equipment (e.g., sheeter, wire-cut, mixers, toppers, enrobers).
  • Train and coach employees on standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety, sanitation, and quality checks.
  • Adhere to Federal Regulations (FDA and NC Department of Ag), SQF, Kosher, Gluten Processing and RSPO program standards.
  • Ensure team members complete accurate and timely production paperwork and documentation.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and communication equipment or process issues to maintenance or supervisor.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safe working habits.
  • Monitor adherence to quality specifications and escalate deviations to the Supervisor or QA as needed.
  • Help coordinate labor and shift coverage based on production needs.
  • Lead by example—demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and problem-solving on the floor.
  • Participate in cross-training and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in a leadership or team trainer role strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of quality and food safety practices (including allergen control, GMP, and HACCP).
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English; bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Basic computer literacy (email, digital forms, Microsoft Excel or Word).
  • Strong interpersonal skills—ability to motivate, redirect, and support a team.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends or overtime as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, lift, and communicate clearly.
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, or work in tight spaces or near machinery.
  • Required to lift up to 50 lbs and handle ingredients or packaging supplies.
  • Able to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and quick response to production needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, ingredients, airborne particles, and food production equipment.
  • Moderate noise level (<85 dB); protective equipment may be required.
  • Temperature range between 75°F and 90°F depending on area.

Fast-paced, team-based production floor.
