Position Overview

The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company trucks to deliver and pick up materials between Conklin branches and customer locations. This position involves loading, unloading, securing freight, and ensuring timely and accurate deliveries while representing Conklin Metal Industries with professionalism and care.

Schedule

• Shift: Monday – Friday (with occasional exceptions)

• Home every night

• Hours: Vary daily with opportunities for overtime

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

• Verify and secure loads according to shipping documents.

• Safely operate trucks in compliance with DOT and state regulations.

• Pick up and deliver freight as scheduled.

• Load and unload materials manually or with mechanical equipment.

• Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and driver logs.

• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and branch staff.

• Present a professional image and provide excellent customer service.

• Report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical issues immediately.

• Keep the truck clean and in good working condition.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A License (Required)

• 2+ years of driving experience (Preferred)

• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (no tickets or accidents)

• Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle safety

• Ability to lift, push, and move freight up to 75 lbs (occasionally up to 250 lbs with assistance)

• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently

Physical Requirements

• Sit and remain alert while driving up to 10 hours

• Enter and exit truck cabs frequently

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently, occasionally up to 122 lbs

• Perform physical tasks such as crouching, climbing, pushing, and pulling

• Work in varying weather and surface conditions

Compensation & Benefits

💲 Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour
