transportation installation and maintenance activities related to traffic signs and delineators within our District.

Salary/Plan Grade:
District Sign Technician I: A16 $3,409.83-$5,094.16 / Monthly
District Sign Technician II: A17 $3,581.33-$5,372.41 / Monthly

Performs entry-level transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Work includes maintaining inventory and records of signs and materials and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and standard practices and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.
Essential Duties:
District Sign Tech I:
- Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency
situations/conditions - Measures and calculates amount of materials needed
- Mixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these duties
- Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs
- Performs and maintains inventory of signs
- Repairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control
Devices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance - Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
District Sign Tech II (in addition to above):
- Orders signs from the regional sign shop
- Conducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective
pavement markers (RPMs) - Inspects roadways to identify sign and delineator deficiencies and recommend repairs
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
District Sign Tech I:
No experience or education required.
District Sign Tech II:
- 1 YEAR Sign installation and/or repair, roadway maintenance, construction, transportation engineering support, heavy equipment
operation, or related work experience.
(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Must have a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "N" endorsement code or have obtained a Class "A" CDL with "N" endorsement code, within 90 calendar days from date of employment.
