Finance Specialist
Washington, DC | Hybrid | $24.03 - $26.44 per hour | Washington Post Top Workplace

Community of Hope is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Specialist to support accurate and timely invoicing, ensure smooth payment processing, and help maintain strong cash flow for our impactful programs. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and funders while growing your expertise in nonprofit finance. If you have a few years of progressive experience in finance or accounting—and a drive to support meaningful change—you may be the perfect fit! This position is located at Conway Health and Resource Center in Southwest, DC.

What You’ll Do:
- Annotates and compiles backup documentation for outgoing monthly invoices.
- Prepares invoices for submission to funders as assigned.
- Prepares and sends invoices for room use, CACFP, honoraria, and other miscellaneous invoices as needed.
- Deposits checks received into Community of Hope’s checking accounts at least weekly using Remote Deposit
- Capture. Reviews and verifies check batch totals provided by the Administrative Assistant. Communicate with bank staff regarding remote deposit function as needed.
- Code and upload fund budgets and budget updates to the Business Central accounting system as assigned.
- Assist with collecting contract deliverables for renewing and new contracts and grant opportunities
- Assist Finance Analysts with inputting annual operating budgets into the accounting system.
- Completes other job duties as assigned.*
Requirements
Must-Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent required. At least two years of post-secondary education in finance, accounting, or business, or 2 years of equivalent work experience required.
- Accurate and attentive to detail.
- Highly organized and able to meet strict deadlines.
- Able to communicate effectively with employees and outside parties.
- Extremely discreet and able to keep highly confidential information.
Nice-to-Haves
- Bookkeeping or accounting training and/or experience.
