Position Summary:
The Clinical Director oversees daily clinical operations for the orthopedic practice. This role ensures high-quality patient care, supports physician and APP workflows, and leads clinical staff performance and development. The Clinical Director works closely with administrative leadership to maintain efficient clinic flow, meet quality standards, and support growth of clinical services. Reports to the CEO/Regional VP of Operations.
Clinical Operations - Key Responsibilities
· Oversee daily clinic schedules, room utilization, patient flow, and wait times to ensure efficient operations.
· Monitor clinical processes to support patient safety, compliance, and a consistent patient experience.
· Ensure appropriate staffing levels across all clinic locations and adjust schedules to meet patient volume and provider needs.
· Partner with physicians and APPs to remove barriers to care and support effective clinic operations.
· Coordinate supply inventory, equipment needs, and vendor relationships.
Leadership and Staff Development
· Directly supervise clinical staff (RNs, LPNs, MAs, X-ray techs, MRI techs and aides, cast techs and any additional clinical support roles).
· Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of new clinical team members.
· Provide ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when needed.
· Support a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and patient-centered care.
· Identify development opportunities and training needs for clinical staff.
Quality, Compliance, and Safety
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards (OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, licensing and certifications for clinic and providers, etc.).
· Maintain accurate documentation and support coding/charge capture accuracy in collaboration with coding and billing teams.
· Support quality improvement initiatives, including patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and safety protocols.
· Ensure patient confidentiality with working knowledge and understanding of HIPAA.
Collaboration & Communication
· Serve as a key point of contact between clinical staff and administrative/operational leadership.
· Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to planning, budgeting, and strategic decisions.
· Communicate workflow changes, protocols, and performance expectations clearly and consistently.
Qualifications
· RN degree required; BSN preferred. Current active state license and certifications required.
· 3+ years of experience preferred in a clinical leadership or supervisory role, ideally in orthopedics or a surgical specialty.
· Strong understanding of clinic operations, staffing models, and patient flow.
· Proven ability to lead teams through change and promote a positive work environment.
· Effective communicator with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
Working Conditions
· Monday–Friday with occasional extended hours and Saturday coverage of urgent care and football clinics based on clinic needs.
· On-site presence required across clinic locations.
