About the Role
The Operations Manager will lead daily operations at our Kaufman, Texas manufacturing site, including lumber production, metal fabrication, inventory control, and yard management overseeing drivers, operators, and material flow across the site.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who runs toward challenges, not away from them. You’ll set the pace, keep the team focused, and make sure every load moves safely, accurately, and on time.
The right person will build discipline, drive urgency, and create a culture where people take pride in their work and get things done. You’ll balance production goals with quality and safety, keep inventory accurate, and lead a team that works hard, stays accountable, and wins together.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations for lumber production, metal fabrication, inventory, and yard.
- Keep production running safely, on time, and at target output levels.
- Oversee finger-joint, laser, press brake, and roll-form areas; jump in where needed to keep things moving.
- Manage yard flow, drivers, and forklift operators to make sure materials and loads move efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility; hold people accountable for following safety rules.
- Drive daily production, set priorities, and communicate clearly with all team members.
- Keep inventory accurate through cycle counts and coordination with procurement
- Monitor equipment and work with maintenance to prevent downtime.
- Train and develop team leads and operators; recognize good work and address issues quickly.
- Track key metrics like throughput, scrap, and downtime; take action when results slip.
- Ensure finished goods meet standards and ship on time.
- Identify process improvements that cut waste and improve flow.
- Build a culture where people show up, work hard, and take pride in what they accomplish.

- The floor runs smoothly; production, yard, and drivers stay on schedule with no surprises
- Quality issues are caught early, and rework is rare
- Inventory counts match the system, and materials are where they’re supposed to be
- The team shows up, works hard, and takes pride in hitting daily goals
- Any issues impacting equipment, safety, or production timelines are communicated promptly to leadership and maintenance
- Problems are identified quickly and addressed with speed and follow-through
- The site operates safely, efficiently, and with urgency every day
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience leading operations, production, or plant teams in a manufacturing environment
- Background in lumber processing, metal fabrication, or both
- Proven ability to manage yard teams safely and efficiently
- Strong working knowledge of production scheduling, inventory control, and material flow
- Comfortable using ERP systems for production and inventory management (NetSuite experience a plus)
- Hands-on leadership style, visible on the floor and willing to jump in when needed
- Track record of improving throughput, reducing waste, and holding teams accountable
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Able to read production schedules, drawings, and work instructions accurately
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
