Overview

This individual will join the Compliance Department supporting the U.S. branch of Canaccord Genuity’s Canadian Wealth Management practice, which includes both a U.S. broker-dealer and SEC-registered investment advisor.

 

This individual will be responsible for building out, implementing, and maintaining the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program for the U.S. Wealth Management business. The AML Compliance Officer will report to the Deputy CCO, COO of CG WM USA and work closely with the firm’s global AML leadership, serving as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for AML oversight across the U.S. Wealth Management platform.


Essential Job Functions

  • Enhance and oversee the AML Program for the U.S. Wealth Management business.
  • Partner with Canadian Wealth Management Compliance and global AML leadership to align AML policies and procedures across jurisdictions while maintaining full U.S. regulatory compliance.
  • Design and enhance the transaction monitoring, investigation and suspicious activity reporting system to ensure adherence to the highest standards. 
  • Implement comprehensive financial crimes, sanctions and KYC compliance policies, procedures and related controls.  
  • Collaborate with business partners and Operations staff to develop an effective control infrastructure in support of the Firm’s overall AML.
  • Develop and issue AML guidance, policies and procedures through ongoing meetings and formal training programs.
  • Advise management and business partners by providing subject matter guidance to business and operational units across the Firm.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of client profiles in coordination with and to challenge the Onboarding team. 
  • Make determinations regarding the outcomes of investigations with respect to the requirement to complete Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs)
  • Manage and implement program enhancement projects concerning the AML program.
  • Support the Regulatory Inquiries function in responding to regulatory responses related to the AML program.  
  • Provide periodic and ad hoc guidance to senior management and affiliates concerning the AML program and related regulatory developments.   
  • Maintain accurate records of investigative actions and outcomes in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial crimes and anti-money laundering programs, and/or comparable regulatory experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a hybrid registered investment adviser and broker dealer.
  • Significant experience within a wealth management or retail brokerage environment.
  • Experience leading or overseeing projects to implement financial crime processes.
  • Ability to explain and convey complex AML-related concepts tailored to differing audiences.  


Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • ACAMS certification. 
  • Advanced degree in business or law. 
  • Experience as manager or team leader.

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across global teams.
  • Sound judgment and ability to operate in a fast-paced, regulated environment.


 

Compensation: $170,000 - 190,000
