Position Duties
As a Steam Fireperson (Bargaining Unit, Local Union No. 25), you bring precision, focus, and technical expertise to the role, maintaining critical systems with care and consistency. You stay calm under pressure, troubleshoot effectively, and communicate clearly with engineering staff. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety ensure the reliable operation of complex heating and utility systems that support essential airport infrastructure.
What you will do:
- Operates and monitors boiler systems to ensure safe and efficient performance of the Central Heating Plant.
- Conducts inspections, cleanings, and assessments to maintain system integrity and identify necessary repairs.
- Maintains water quality and cooling systems through chemical testing, equipment maintenance, and documentation.
- Performs hands-on repairs and collaborates with supervisors to address complex issues and maintain operational continuity.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 - 3 years experience in operation of power plants required.
- Valid Massachusetts Steam Fireman license.
- Basic knowledge of high pressure boilers, air conditioning chillers, cooling towers, and other cooling equipment required.
- Basic knowledge of high temperature hot water systems, pipe fitting, and chemical treatments for power plants required.
