The Opportunity:
Shape the World Around You – As a Fire Engineering Technologist, you’ll help shape the safety and resilience of tomorrow’s buildings and infrastructure. You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative fire protection solutions that meet regulatory requirements and exceed client expectations.
Based in our Ottawa or Thornhill office and reporting to the Principal of Fire Protection Engineering, you’ll apply your knowledge of Canadian and international building and fire codes, along with your education in fire safety science, to support project delivery and compliance.

What you can expect to do here:
- Guide design teams to ensure fire and life safety excellence across diverse projects
- Contribute strategic and innovative input to concept and detailed design phases
- Analyze building systems, drawings, and specifications to develop code-compliant solutions for new builds and renovations
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and clients to deliver high-quality, on-budget, and on-schedule results
- Support the development of alternative solutions that meet fire and life safety objectives
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- 2+ years of experience in fire protection engineering or code consulting, ideally in a consulting environment
- Degree in Engineering or Applied Science; advanced degree in Fire Protection Engineering is a strong asset
- Recognized for your credibility and leadership in fire safety design and compliance
- Skilled in interpreting and applying building and fire codes to real-world scenarios
- Comfortable working across disciplines and contributing to collaborative project teams
