Temporary Finance & Accounting Assistant

The Temporary Finance & Accounting Assistant is an opportunity to dip your toes (and spreadsheets) into the exciting world of corporate finance! You'll get a behind the scenes look at how every part of retail business operations connects through finance- because yes, even snacks and sodas have a story to tell in the numbers. As part of the Stinker Stores Finance Department, you'll tackle accounting and clerical tasks like data entry, research, technical assistance, special projects, and problem solving- basically, all the fun stuff that keeps the financial wheels turning (and the coffee flowing)!

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain activity and payment spreadsheets by keeping the details of electronic payments in line—credit cards, debit cards, gift cards, EBT, truck fleet payments, WEX... you name it. It’s all about keeping the stink under control with sharp tracking skills.
  • Keep track of rental schedules, collect payments, and sniff out any overdue payments.
  • Prepare and process accounts receivable statements by wrangling overdue payments, monitoring aging reports, and, when necessary, sending bad debts to the collection agency.
  • Gas vouchers are a real stench if they’re not submitted on time, so ensuring they get to the right agencies promptly is a must.
  • Stay on the lookout for ways to sniff out inefficiencies and improve operations- whether it’s cutting turnaround times, streamlining workflows, or just making sure everything smells like roses.
  • Deliver excellent customer service when communicating with outside vendors, it’s the stinker way!
  • Dive into duties assigned by department leadership with a nose for detail and a stinkin’ awesome attitude.

 

What you’ll Need

  • Good understanding of accounting terminology, practices, and math skills.
  • Ability to analyze, research, and explain financial information in ways non-financial people can understand (read: convince non-finance people that Finance is fun!).
  • Solution-focused thinking. We get 5 minutes to complain and then we figure out how to move forward.
  • Proficient use of ten-key, mainframe, computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and stay organized, with attention to detail while multitasking (There are a lot of moving pieces and skunks headed in every direction!).
  • Ability to complete projects in a timely manner and escalate any issues to Leadership.

 

Requirements

  • Educational experience in accounting or finance related programs, Junior or Senior status preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, both within the company and externally.
  • Must be comfortable working in an office environment surrounded by furry friends (that’s right, we’re dog friendly!).
  • Work is performed under normal office working conditions in a temperature-controlled environment, may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.

 

Location: In-person, office is located at 3184 Elder Street, Boise, ID 83705

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
