TITLE: SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL SECURITY GUARD
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree or better preferred.
Law Enforcement/Security background.
Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students and adults.
Be in good physical condition.
Required: Criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status.
JOB GOAL: To assist in the health and safety of all students and staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the safety and security of New Egypt School District students, faculty, and staff.
Be a physical presence throughout the school to prevent and deter violence/criminal activity and /or improper behavior that would distract from an educational environment. Also, to be personally accessible to students and staff to enable them to voice their concerns on safety and security issues.

Consult on emergency procedures for crisis scenarios, the development of plans and strategies to prevent and/or minimize dangerous situations on or near the school(s) campus, or involving students in school-related activities.
Be available upon request for security detail during events after school hours.

Make him/herself available to assist the building administration in matters related to the safe and orderly operation of the school.
Collaborate with administration and counselors to identify students and/or situations that may require crisis intervention.
Actively monitor all school grounds, including but not limited to; parking lots, hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, and other areas of the building as deemed appropriate.
Remove unauthorized persons from school property.
Work cooperatively with the School Resource Officer.
Document and report incidents of safety/security violations.
Escort disruptive and/or unruly students from the classroom, cafeteria, etc.
Interview along with administration, students who:
have been threatened.
are the victims of theft.
have safety concerns.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with state law and provisions of the board’s policy on the evaluation of non-certified staff.
