Caregiver (PRN)

The Caregiver will be responsible for day-to-day activities of participants in groups and as individuals to help meet their psycho-social needs. Caregivers will be responsible for helping to assess the group needs of the participants, help participants with completing ADL’s while at the Center, specifically assuring that the participants have their personal care needs met. Caregivers are also responsible for fostering a team-focused environment as well as practicing Person Centered Care for all participants in their programming and care needs.  This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing. This position is Monday-Friday, with a possible schedule during the following operating hours 9:30am-5:30pm.


Experience

  • 1-2 years long-term care experience, gerontological experience including dementia population preferred.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.



Education

  • High school diploma or GED. Team members who work with participants shall receive at least 24 hours of training no later than three weeks after starting employment.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred but not required.

Serving Northern Virginia since 1984, IMCC offers a spectrum of holistic care, education and support, with a vision of a community where those affected by memory impairments can achieve the highest quality of life. IMCC also provides a safe and therapeutic environment for people in all stages of dementia. A vital part of IMCC is providing a well-rounded therapeutic recreation program that meets the physical, cognitive and social needs of each participant.
