Job Summary
The Inpatient Acute Care Cardiology Advanced Health Practitioner position has clinical, procedural, administrative, and educational responsibilities in the care of patients requiring cardiac care. Under the supervision of the Chief of Cardiology and the Heart & Vascular Manager for Inpatient Cardiology Advanced Practice Providers and the Director of Advanced Practice Nursing, the Cardiology APP will have a critical role in the inpatient setting. These responsibilities will include acute care inpatient management and management of post cardiac procedure patients. Duties include assessment and management of care including but not limited to treatment implementation and coordination of care as the primary team; education of patients, families and other health care practitioners. The Cardiology APP will manage patients with attending cardiologists, promote patient access, continuity of care, facilitate diagnostic testing and intervention, and coordinate a comprehensive discharge by collaborating with other disciplines including nursing, case management, social work, and pharmacy.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $80.98 - $108.99 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Six (6) months of experience in an inpatient cardiology setting
- May consider experience in hospital medicine greater than 1 year if also completed a cardiology rotation as student
- This position requires flexibility to work across all UCSF Medical Center campuses, UCSF affiliates, and UCSF Faculty Practice patient care locations, with varying schedules as assigned."
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic cardiac point of care ultrasound skills
- Clinical rotations in cardiology
License/Certification
- Hold an active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA)
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position
- Hold current national board certification (NCCPA) by first day of work and maintain
- Hold an active DEA registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 to a California address
- Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA).
- Submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day
- Hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement
- Hold current AHA ACLS as minimum requirement
