About the Role:

The Depot Driver at the Spartanburg Plant, 0032, plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of goods and materials between the depot and various destinations. This position is responsible for the safe operation of company vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations to maintain a secure working environment. The driver will manage loading and unloading of cargo, verifying shipment contents, and maintaining accurate delivery records. Effective communication with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers is essential to coordinate schedules and resolve any delivery issues. Ultimately, the Depot Driver contributes to the smooth supply chain operations, supporting overall plant productivity and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle class operated.
  • Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads safely, typically up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a depot or delivery driver in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • Familiarity with Spartanburg area routes and traffic patterns.
  • Certification in defensive driving or safety training programs.
  • Experience using GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate company vehicles to transport goods between the depot and designated locations safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage and verifying shipment accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and report any issues promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and address any concerns.

The Depot Driver utilizes driving skills daily to navigate routes safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries.
