The Valley Park School District seeks an Instructional Coach to serve as a collaborative partner for teachers and staff in strengthening classroom instruction, curriculum implementation, and student learning outcomes. The Instructional Coach will provide mentoring, modeling, and feedback to teachers, with a strong focus on using student data to drive instructional decisions, improve teaching practices, and close achievement gaps. This role also supports the integration of high-leverage strategies, responsive classroom practices, and professional learning that empower educators to create inclusive and effective learning environments.


The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of best practices in teaching, learning, and coaching. 
  • Be familiar with coaching models such as Cognitive Coaching and Student-Centered Coaching. 
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Show a proven ability to mentor, support, and inspire students and teachers. 
  • Analyze student achievement and benchmark assessment data to identify trends, strengths, and gaps in learning. 
  • Partner with teachers to use data for instructional planning, differentiation, and intervention strategies that improve outcomes for all students. 
  • Model how to design and implement assessments that provide actionable information to guide instruction. 
  • Support data conversations in PLCs and coaching cycles that translate evidence into next steps for teaching and learning. 
  • Support staff in building data literacy and confidence using multiple measures (formative, summative, diagnostic). 
  • Use data to help teachers track student progress, refine instructional strategies, and close achievement gaps. 
  • Collaborate with administrators to align data use with district goals, ensuring continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Understand the importance of preparing students to be college, career, and success-ready. 
  • Exhibit dependability, professionalism, and the ability to build positive relationships. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a collaborative partner to teachers, providing coaching, mentoring, and modeling to strengthen classroom practice. 
  • Support implementation of district curriculum, high-leverage teaching strategies, and effective classroom assessment practices. 
  • Provide feedback and guidance to teachers through observation, co-teaching, and regular coaching conversations. 
  • Mentor and support new teachers, including participation in new teacher orientation and year-long development.
  • Facilitate professional learning, model lessons, and share research-based instructional practices. 
  • Assist with curriculum development, alignment, and instructional planning across grade levels. 
  • Collect, analyze, and use student achievement data to inform instruction and interventions. 
  • Guide teachers in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting student data to inform instructional decisions and improve learning outcomes. 
  • Facilitate data-driven conversations in PLCs and coaching sessions to identify instructional gaps, monitor interventions, and celebrate student growth. 
  • Support teachers in designing and implementing formative and summative assessments that provide actionable feedback for adjusting instruction.
  • Support teachers in developing responsive, inclusive classrooms that meet the needs of diverse learners. 
  • Collaborate closely with Teaching & Learning to effectively implement and promote key departmental initiatives and standards. 
  • Drive the design of relevant curriculum that embeds career-connected learning to enhance student engagement and real-world application.
  • Facilitate teacher collaboration with industry partners to bring authentic, career-aligned learning experiences into the classroom.
  • Support teachers in integrating career-connected learning opportunities into classroom practice. 
  • Contribute to the district's continuous improvement cycle by collecting and interpreting CCR-related metrics and supporting data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience. 
  • Previous experience in instructional coaching or teacher leadership preferred. 
  • Missouri teaching certification required.
  • Compensation: Highly competitive salary.

  • FLSA Status: Exempt, Professional Exemption-Teacher.
  • Work Calendar: 187-day calendar.  
    • This position also requires working 5-10 additional calendar days outside of the 187-day calendar year and receives an additional extra-duty stipend for these days.
