SOUTH KINGSTOWN SCHOOL DEPARTMENT JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Head Boys Indoor Track Coach Location: South Kingstown High School
Report to: Athletic Director and Principal
South Kingstown High School: South Kingstown High School is a public high school, dedicated to developing students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, effective communicators, technology users, and contributing members to a global workforce and society. South Kingstown High School is a grade 9-12 comprehensive high school serving over 900 students.
Position Summary: The Head Coach is responsible for coaching the Boys Indoor Track program. The position also requires duties such as:
•Supervising athletes during practices and competition
•Supervise and monitor Assistant Coaches
•Instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
•Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities.
•Formulate game strategy.
•Maintain the equipment in orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security.
•Model behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
•Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury
•Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
•Traveling to and from away contests
•Participates in special activities to include parents’ night, banquets, award nights, etc.
•Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve
coaching performance.
•Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.
Requirements:
•1-3 years of Head Coaching Boys Indoor Track experience at the High School level preferred.
•Comprehensive knowledge of the sport is paramount. Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures.
•Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
•Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Must possess the ability to relate to students and to teach them on and off the court.
•Must be willing to accept a high level of accountability.
•Must possess the ability to assess players.
•Candidates will be interviewed and the candidate who ranks highest in the interview process and meets the requirements of the position will be recommended for the position
•Completion of a successful interview.
•Successfully complete the RIIL-NFHS sponsored Fundamentals of Coaching Course
•Successfully complete a standard First Aid and CPR course.
•Successfully complete the NFHS Concussion Course. (renewed annually)
•Successfully complete the Rhode Island State Component. (renewed annually)
•Successfully complete the online course NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest. (renewed annually)
•Successfully complete a Background check.
•Successfully complete any additional courses assigned by the RIIL/RIPCOA.
•New coaching hires must complete all courses within six (6) months of date of hire.
•The Head Boys Indoor Track Coach is required to abide by the RIIL/RIPCOA rules and abide by and assist in implementing and enforcing all policies of the South Kingstown School District and the Athletic Administration.

Compensation: All coaches shall be paid as established in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the National Education Association of South Kingstown. The Head Boys Indoor Track Coach position stipend will be $3,965.00.
