Responsible for operating and maintaining heating, ventilation and air conditioning throughout the property. Oversees general operating of Engineering Department in the absence of management, other duties as required.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Fulfills all duties of Preventive Maintenance Program on all HVAC equipment.
Participates in Fire Brigade.
Maintains equipment logs as mandated by hotel and government agencies.
Performs regular FDNY inspections
Maintenance
Repairs and maintains all boilers, appliances, house tanks, cooling towers, A/C units, etc.
Reads gauges, thermostats, meters on all equipment and records information in respective logs.
Performs plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical and maintenance duties on regular basis.
Takes samples, tests and adds chemicals to all water and fuel oil systems.
Receives fuel supplies and cleans spillage.
Staffing
Works on special technical projects, answers phones, fills out work orders and dispatches personnel when necessary.
Assigns and oversees duties of engineering personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL:
At least 5 years licensed Operating Engineers experience in institutional setting.
Background should include repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment.
Exposure to all Building Trades.
License in refrigeration, boiler, air pollution, standpipe, sprinkler and fire guard.
Certificate of Fitness for Low-Pressure Boiler, Sprinkler & Standpipe
EPA Universal Certification 608
Osha training
P99 Certificate of fitness for low pressure boiler
Operator Q01 Certificate of Qualification for refrigeration engineer
H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
DESIRABLE:
AA degree or combination of trade certificated and/or applicable experience

Bend, lift, push, pull and carry in excess of 50 lbs.

- A minimum of one year building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred.
- Good customer skills are also required.
