Location: Rockville, MD
Schedule: 3 Days per Week (Part-Time)
Employment Type: W-2 or 1099 Contractor (based on candidate preference)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Safety Professional to support our Contractor Safety and Emergency Response programs. This role is ideal for an entry- to mid-level candidate with foundational knowledge in OSHA compliance, safety protocols, and incident preparedness. You will work closely with operations, contractors, and facility leadership to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

The position is on-site in Rockville, MD for three (3) days per week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project needs.

Key Responsibilities

Contractor Safety Oversight

  • Review, evaluate, and manage contractor safety documentation (JSAs, site-specific safety plans, permits).
  • Conduct contractor orientations and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Perform periodic field audits and inspections of contractor activities.
  • Emergency Response Program Support
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of emergency action plans (EAPs).
  • Coordinate emergency drills and post-drill evaluations.
  • Participate in incident investigations and support root cause analysis for emergency-related events.

General Safety Support

  • Conduct safety audits, walkthroughs, and hazard identification assessments.
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 standards.
  • Collaborate with other EHS personnel to ensure continuous improvement in safety culture.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Public Health, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 1–5 years of relevant EHS experience (internships and field experience acceptable for entry-level candidates).
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interface with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (General Industry or Construction).
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Experience in contractor oversight or emergency planning in facility or construction environments.
  • BCSP certifications (e.g., STS, GSP) are a plus but not required.
