QC NDT Level II Technician at TrueNorth Steel

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  

• Set up equipment and conduct tests on structural steel components following procedures established for specified tests performed.
• Apply agents, such as cleaners, penetrants, and developers, and couplet to parts.
• Conduct visual, penetrant, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle tests on metal parts to determine if parts meet nondestructive specifications.
• Mark tested parts to indicate conforming and defective areas.
• Interpret and evaluate test results against designated standards, utilizing knowledge of metals and testing experience in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures.
• Prepare reports outlining findings and conclusions.
• Initiates accept/reject decisions and know when to call more qualified individuals for marginal evaluations.
• Quality Control Inspection.
• Ability to travel to other TrueNorth Steel sites when needed.
• Embrace and demonstrate the qualities of the TrueNorth Steel Game Changer definition.
• Prompt and dependable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES 

• Certified to Level II qualifications to perform Ultrasonic (UT) and Magnetic Particle (MT) test methods in accordance with AWS D1.1, D1.8 and D1.5.
• Have mechanical aptitude.
• Ability follow directions.
• Attention to details.
• Exceptional safety and quality work awareness

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE 

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Post-secondary education in non-destructive testing preferred.
• 2 years non-destructive testing experience preferred.
