Overview 


JANSON is seeking a passionate, purposeful, problem-solving individual to serve as our Director of Finance. This is a full-time position at the JANSON Headquarters office in Fairfax, VA. This individual will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with government regulations (including those relevant to woman-owned and small business certifications), and supporting sound financial decisions. This role is both strategic and tactical, combining the ability to set and maintain a financial plan with operational excellence and rigor to support growth. The ideal candidate will possess a balanced blend of strategic thinking, planning, analyzing and implementing to contribute to program execution, business growth and sustained operating excellence.


Responsibilities


Financial Strategy, Leadership & Execution

o Serve as financial advisor to the CEO and leadership team, providing guidance on financial performance, investment opportunities, and risk mitigation.

o Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute financial strategies that align with company goals, while supporting growth objectives and operational scalability.

o Drive scenario modeling and performance analytics to guide decision-making.

o Evaluate financing needs and funding options for company growth and capital investments.

o Contribute to strategic initiatives, mergers/acquisitions analysis, and long-term growth planning.

o Lead annual financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.

o Create financial reports and dashboards for CEO.

o Partner with department heads to align operational spend with strategic goals.

o Optimize cost structures and improve efficiency across the enterprise.

o Evaluate vendor and capex decisions for ROI and long-term value.


 Accounting & Reporting

o Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

o Manage audits and reporting for government contracts.


 Compliance & Risk Management


o Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

o Oversee cost controls on each of the company’s programs.

o Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity, and capital to support operational needs and mitigate financial risk.


 Team Development & Collaboration


o Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.

o Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial plans with company goals.


 Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time


Deliverables

· Financial plans, budgets, forecasts, business cases, financial reports for government contracts 


Required Qualifications

· Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA strongly preferred).


Industry Experience:

  •  Government  contracting

 Job Experience: 10+ years of FP&A or corporate finance. Proven senior financial leadership. Ownership of financial decision-making for a business or portfolio of businesses, including monitoring performance, recommending improvements and managing compliance and risk. Strong leadership in Financial Planning & Analysis including hands-on partnering with business leaders to implement financial strategies that support growth. Developing and driving the financial roadmap for long-term growth within a smaller, ambitious company.

Skills: 

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of Unanet and its implementation. Strong hands-on knowledge of GAAP and compliance requirements, financial analysis and modeling, and MS Office suite, especially Excel. Strong communicator and leader with proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and values-driven environment. Ability to develop, mentor, and grow a team.
