SUMMARY: The Clinical Scribe is an individual trained in medical documentation who assists the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, and Physician Assistant, as he/she provides medical care to patients. The primary goal of the Medical Scribe is to increase the efficiency and production of the medical provider.
 
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS:
* High school diploma
* Experience Minimum of one (1) year of in the healthcare industry. 2 years of experience as a Medical Scribe, Assistant, Transcriptionist, or Medication Aide preferred.
 
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Clinical Services
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: No person shall work under the influence of alcohol, intoxicants, or illegal drugs; or when the person is using medications to the extent that the use adversely affects the performance of his or her duties or the health or safety of any resident.
It is everyone's responsibility to demonstrate high ethical standards and a commitment to compliance with all laws applicable to licensed and certified health care communities.
They must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position
* Accurately and thoroughly prepares medical visits and procedures as they are performed by the provider including, but not limited to:
o Patient demographic, vital signs, chief complaints, history, and laboratory/diagnostic testing results.
* Prepares and organizes the provider schedule for rounding based on provider instructions and "Medical Scribe Daily Checklist".
* Ensure all laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging results are collected, reviewed, and documented by the provider with completion of appropriate tracking tools.
* Performs basic clerical work, including faxing, fielding phone calls, and ensuring all email correspondence is addressed.
* Serves as liaison between medical provider and facility personnel.
* Providers exemplary customer service to both the patient and facilities.
* Performs order entry as deemed necessary by the facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic medical records.
* Understanding of basic medical terminology, practices, and procedures.
* Ability to write and summarize in a clear, complete, and concise manner. Excellent English composition skills.
* Must be able to type words and numbers quickly and accurately.
* Ability to follow specific, outline duties and attention to detail.
* Exemplary customer service.
* Must comply with all HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communication patient information.
* Maintains professional and courtesy demeanor at all times with staff, colleagues, patients, and families.
* Ability to embrace corporate values, mission, goals.
