Hometown Health Center (HHC) is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Patient Specialist (PS) to join our front office team. As the first and last point of contact for patients, the PS plays a vital role in ensuring a positive experience and supporting efficient clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients for appointments; verify and update demographic and insurance information.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-ups, including hospital discharges.
  • Check out patients and collect co-pays; reconcile daily batches.
  • Answer and direct phone calls; document communications in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Assist patients with kiosk check-in and screenings.
  • Offer sliding fee scale applications when appropriate and document income level.
  • Maintain a clean and welcoming waiting area; monitor patient flow.
  • Collaborate with care coordination and clinical teams to support smooth workflows.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfort with technology and willingness to learn new systems.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • Completion of a medical terminology course.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
