Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lead Enterprise Architect with deep expertise across cloud architecture, AWS ecosystems, enterprise application modernization, and future-state technology design. This role demands a lead who can operate at the intersection of strategy and execution—driving large-scale architecture transformation while remaining grounded in hands-on, real-world application design and delivery.
The Lead Enterprise Architect will serve as the senior-most technical authority, defining the enterprise architecture vision, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-based solutions. This is a remote position with quarterly in-office sessions in Madrid, and up to two annual trips to our Washington, D.C./Metro area office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the enterprise architecture strategy and cloud modernization roadmap for large-scale, mission-critical systems.
- Lead the design and delivery of real-world AWS-based architectures, ensuring scalability, cost-efficiency, and performance.
- Partner with executive stakeholders to align technology direction with business outcomes, translating complex technical concepts into actionable business terms.
- Oversee architectural governance, ensuring compliance, security, and operational excellence across global teams.
- Guide teams on best practices for IaC (Terraform/CDK/CloudFormation), microservices, container orchestration, and DevSecOps integration.
- Evaluate and integrate AI, data analytics, edge computing, and serverless technologies to future-proof platforms.
- Mentor and coach engineers, solution architects, and product teams, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Lead architectural reviews and participate in strategic planning sessions with both Connect Centric and client executives.
- Serve as the ultimate escalation point for architectural and operational challenges in cloud and hybrid environments.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise and solution architecture, including direct leadership of multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including VPC design, security, IAM, ECS/EKS, Lambda, and automation.
- Proven success in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems and hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong background in application modernization, API architecture, and data integration using modern cloud-native patterns.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability, and security-first design principles.
- Deep understanding of cost optimization, governance, and enterprise-scale architecture patterns.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at the C-suite level while mentoring technical staff.
- Strategic thinker with a “futurist” mindset—able to forecast emerging technology impact and translate it into actionable plans.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience considered.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
- TOGAF, SAFe Architect, or equivalent enterprise architecture frameworks
- Certifications in complementary cloud providers (Azure or GCP)
Citizenship required for this Position: Candidates must be Spanish citizens or legal residents with full working rights in Spain, and possess fluent professional English (both written and spoken).
This role requires regular collaboration with U.S.-based teams and clients, so English fluency is essential,
