Team Profile
Client Onboarding and Reference Data Services (CORDS) is an Operations group is responsible for adherence to client regulatory requirements during the life of the client’s relationship with Morgan Stanley. This includes Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Client Reference Screening, Know Your Client (KYC), and other non- KYC AML regulations such as MIFID, QIB, QFC, Dodd Frank, EMIR, HKPI, etc. CORDS has a global footprint with offices in Hong Kong, Bangalore, Mumbai, Tokyo, London, Glasgow, Baltimore, and New York.
The Risk and Control Operations Team Specialist is responsible for the documentation, measurement, analysis, and mitigation of operational risk. The specialist accomplishes this through internal risk metric reporting, incident management, InfoSec/system entitlement program and department/internal reviews testing & audits. In addition, they will support the global operations programs of Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Vendor Management. The Team Specialist will generally perform these risk and control framework responsibilities in collaboration with functional process owners. The Specialist will also be responsible for supporting the Testing Program for CORDS under the supervision of a Department Manager/Advanced Specialist.
Operational Risk Management
As an Operations Team Specialist in Risk Management for CORDS, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Supporting operational risk management activities for the CORDS organization globally with particular focus in supporting the North America and EMEA regions
- Preparation and execution of risk reporting which involves working with the respective stakeholders on performing risk reviews and collecting metrics. This includes supporting other ad-hoc regional reporting requirements for North America and EMEA.
- Execution of risk processes by leveraging risk tools to track top risks, incidents, action plans.
- Co-ordination and tracking of remedial action plans from risk mitigation to ensure quality and timelines of delivery.
- Demonstrate an awareness of the NFRA (Non-Financial Risk Assessment) program and is able to utilize the NFRA tools on behalf of their division.
- Collaboration with line management to ensure incident reporting in required tools by required deadlines.
- Validation of incident postmortems and reporting in quality assurance checks.
- Collaboration with line management to support vendor management.
Testing and Analysis Agenda:
Testing and Analysis is a key part of the CORDS Risk value proposition. In supporting the program, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate and track the execution of the testing program. This includes review and testing of designated Key Controls.
- Assist with test script building.
Qualifications:
- College degree (BCOM, BSc or BA) preferably in accounting, economics, finance, statistics, or related disciplines
- One to five years of experience in financial services operations. Experience in operational risk management preferred.
- Strong Excel skills inclusive of large data management, Pivots and formulas such as vlookups
- Hands-on experience with using quantitative (metrics) and qualitative tools (e.g., process narratives and flows, incident reports) to assess areas of risk and identify risk mitigation options
- Strong analytical skills, including root cause analysis
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including experience with business process documentation and preparing management reports using PowerPoint
- Collaboration and teamwork skills and experience, including strong interpersonal skills.
