About the Role

As a Quality Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality, food safety, and sensory excellence at the plant level. You’ll lead quality and sensory programs, oversee a team of Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Technicians, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with McCain’s standards and regulatory requirements.

This position focuses on maintaining product integrity through continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and proactive problem-solving—helping us deliver products our consumers trust and love.

Statement of Job

Lead and coordinate the plant’s quality and sensory programs to ensure compliance with McCain standards, customer expectations, and food safety regulations. The Quality Supervisor will monitor production processes, conduct investigations, develop corrective actions, and manage the FSQ team to maintain a high level of product quality and consistency.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with production teams to monitor quality processes and drive continuous improvement.

  • Use Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to investigate consumer complaints and quality-related losses; develop and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness.

  • Oversee foreign material (FM) investigations ensuring cross-functional collaboration and true root cause identification.

  • Ensure timely positive release of finished goods, including oversight of rework, dilution, downgrades, and donations.

  • Maintain and update HACCP plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); ensure training and compliance at all levels.

  • Manage FSQ technicians—schedule and assign work, provide training, and support ongoing development.

  • Lead internal quality audits in compliance with BRC, AIB, and KEFSQ standards.

  • Prepare, interpret, and communicate quality data and reports for management and customers.

  • Retain finished goods samples and oversee daily sensory panel evaluations.

  • Drive continuous improvement for quality-related KPIs and support alignment with regional initiatives.

 

Sensory Program Management

  • Lead and manage plant sensory programs, ensuring consistent execution of daily quality panels.

  • Screen, select, and train sensory panelists; validate and calibrate panel performance.

  • Maintain gold standards and reference samples for product evaluation.

  • Implement and manage incentive programs to encourage panelist engagement and consistency.

  • Partner with Regional Sensory Quality Leads to enhance sensory evaluation practices and data reliability.

  • Trend internal sensory results and correlate them with consumer feedback and customer complaints.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members.

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Skilled in problem-solving and analytical thinking using data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years in food manufacturing, sanitation, or quality operations.

  • Strong technical expertise in microbiology, chemistry, and food science principles.

  • Proficient in HACCP, food safety systems, and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with statistical analysis, experimental data interpretation, and product testing.

  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
